Default My 1st day of VA muzzeloader season

Didn' t gut me a buck, but I' m not too discouraged since I saw three does (I' m hunting public land and it' s bucks only till next Sat.)
I also saw two turkeys
a turtle turtled up to me and eyed me up for about twenty minutes and then turtled away
I saw oodles of squirrels, one hit my right arm as it jumped over me (how do they know when I' m not hunting them, how do they know?!)
I stayed out till 1 PM and then it just got way too hot, the 50 degree nights are OK, but I can' t take 75 degree days!

I enjoy seeing other things besides deer, and I enjoy the little adventures they bring. That' s what makes being in the outdoors fun!

Sounds like you had a good time nonetheless.

This morning was actually chilly, but like you said it was too hot today, I went back in the woods at 2. Never saw a deer all day. Until I was leaving and there was one in my headlights.

My first day went pretty well.I took a four point buck in the morning at 15 yards. The afternoon was dry but I did see more deer around 3:30 but they were out of range. Can' t wait for the weather to break and the rut to start full swing
