Used to hate oaks..BUT since I purchased those stabalizer straps..I'll climb any tree..Pines are noisy but my favorite...cypress require a screw in step most of the time..Oaks and gums are like concrete but do well with stabalizer straps.

I'll really climb any tree. If you're not looking to spend a whole lot on a climber then check out the api marksman. I have used one before, and the are a great value for sure. I've seen them online for as little as $130. They only weigh 16 pounds so they are also lighter than a summit.

Thanks fellas. I was looking at the Summit viper classic which is the steel version of the SD which weighs 27ish pounds. Then I was figuring with my bow/gun and my backpack it'll get heavy on those longer hikes. I'm thinking I'm going to just bite the bullet and go for the SD which is 20 pounds but a little bit more money. Nothing's set in stone yet and I've still got time to think about it though.

Nice FL buck Woods. I went out to GS yesterday to scout and pull/ reset some cams. Freaking WET. 17" snakeboots aren't tall enough! lol. Was a fun hike though had to work around a good size gator that had decided to lay out across the game trail I was using to get in one spot. Found a pair of Pine trees that had been hit but lightning I am assuming. I thought I had found a stupid tall rub until I realized the blown out bark ran all the way up both trees

Awesome deer woods!

And NY2FL I use a Muddy Cobalt climber I got from Cabelas and I love the thing. It's aluminum and lightweight. Climbs great on every tree I've put it on so far and is very comfortable even for me (6'4" 255lbs) Fairly inexpensive on sale from them right now at $129.

Nice deer woods! Was that GSW? I thought I saw your pic hanging up at the check station. And as far as climbers, spend the extra money and get one that is light and comfortable. 21lbs or less is a all I want to carry if you plan on walking further than a couple hundred yards.
