As we stepped out of the truck the 1st thing I noticed was how cold and windy it was. It didn't look like we were going to have a good day of running but we were at the club so we might as well turn loose. On top of that, there was still dry powdery snow the ground. Rabbit tracks & droppings were everywhere in the snow and we knew plenty of bunnies had been out & about.
We put 7 dogs on the ground and ended up stroking some bunnies. The 1st two ran like hare, they ran way out and stayed there circling over & over. One came back and we shot him, but 2 of my buddies had to move in on the 2nd one to get him. We jumped 8 and killed 7 w/ one going underground after we had just sat down on a sunny hill top to relax & listen to the dogs run.
Overall evaluation - some days you think the dogs are going to have a hard time smelling & they run effortlessly. Guess you just can't tell!
WTG Steve. Was this the day that Buck ditched early??????? Serves him right, if so. Patience is not his virtual. I can't wait for the next time to hear the beagles stroking the bunnies. Only if the darn snow would stop falling in our neck of the woods.

I'm an Ohio rabbit hunter...and I've noticed that the crappier the weather, the better the hunting. The days when you think they'd be holed up...they're out in the woods. Just crazy...but you'd think after 30 years of chasing them I'd know that. HA
Nice pics!
