hey Bush if you check out Hunters for the Hungry webpage they list processors where you can donate. Not saying that you want to donate or maybe you do but they do have a pretty good list of butchers. I know of a couple in Fauquier County around Catlett and Nokesville.

I am glad someone else feels Sunday is a bad day for me to hunt and this is why I can't hunt on Sundays.

Thanks flips2. checked out the web site if i read it right they said if you donate the whole deer you dont pay the processor fee of 40.00 you can then donate that to them. if that is all it cost to get a deer processed I should just start hitting myself in the head. I also think the place you found is right behind my house maybe 5 miles. I gotta give them a call monday

my wife just asked how many more deer I was going to try and get this season. I said one more maybe 2 but they will be bigger ones 10-12 pointer or that big 8 I missed and that would be all I can handel thats a lot of work, but I did say if I knew someone that wanted one after I was done I would be happy to help out. I have seen a program on a sunday hunting show that did the same thing but it was call HUSH i think. but what you have showed will do just find.
Thanks Bushey

Most places around the NOVA area cost about $80.00 to process a standard cut (roast, steaks, ground). more if want sausage made and so on. The only place I know of that charges you to donate is Linthicum's which is located near the Manassas Battlefields. They use to charge $20.00 to donate, cash only. I really didn't like their entire operation either. Most everywhere else I have taken deer to donate hasn't charged. It gets tough late in the year because of the amount of deer donated though but most will still accept them. I haven't been turned down yet to donate deer.

Last year I went to Gadel's in Catlett, they did a great job, quick turn around and have outstanding summer sausage. Little pricey to get some of the specialities done but worth it when it hits the taste buds. I have tried Fauquier's Finest and wasn't overly impressed with them. I think you have to skin and quarter your deer there.

Good luck the rest of the season and great job on the buck you already killed, I didn't comment on the other thread yet.

I take my deer to silver ridge farms. Jerry silver is the owner. usually costs me around 70, but if you donate it doesn't cost a thing. Last year they even caped a buck out for me that i shot free of charge. They're good people.

Bush, I haven't tasted a difference with bone still in the meat at all. The only meat that I have bone in are steaks.
The only time I really noticed a bad taste was when the one and only time I took it to the place near the battlefields. I believe I didn't get my deer back and got a hodge podge of meat back. The deer I took in was not that big or old and shouldn't have ever tasted so gamey.

Hoyt, where is Silver Ridge Farms located at. I have never heard of them.
