public hunting land in Oklahoma
Iam new to hunting in Oklahoma and was wondering where a good public place would be to go. I live in Tulsa soI would like to keep in this general area butI am willing to drive with in 100 miles or so.

Well if your ever down here in Tahlequah (not too far). We have Cherokee PHA wich ive personaly seen lots of deer and turkey there. Its also one of the top rated wma's for whitetail harvest and turkey. Its connect to the gruber area.

i've heard alot of good stuff about cherokee PHA i've never hunted public land (have lease) but heard couple friends that hunted cherokee and gruber areasay good stuff aboutthe two

i may head up there this weekend just to see what the area looks like since i have never been there before. maybe illlook for a good place to start my hunt from. In this area do you have to worry about there beingalot of other hunters or is there few enough people that you dont have to worry about having people walking through the area that you are hunting? Have any of you heard much about the Spavinaw (sp?) area?

isn't there public hunting on the other side of wagoner like fort gibson something or is that a managment area?
