6 of us got together in Culpeper (Central VA) for the last day of VA rabbit season and had a great time. We dropped the tailgate about 0830 and hunted until mid-afternoon. Speaking for all of us, dogs included, we were beat by the time we called it quits. We had some great races, the dogs absolutely stroked each and every bunny like a snowshoe hare, heads up running full speed, locking on and the rabbits just COULD NOT get away! The one I called them off ran out of a 900 acre tract of thick briars & pine thickets across the road into a pasture then into hardwoods, that's how much pressure the dogs were putting on him.
The terrain was absolutely beautiful, the weater perfect, and comradiere great. Here are some pics of our last VA rabbit hunt of the season. The dogs ran 7 rabbits and we harvested 6 of them. 1 ran across the road and I had to get the dogs off him for fear of being too close to the road. Several times the buck rabbits ran out of hearing, a few times the guys had to run to the rabbits to get to them before the dogs could as the dogs were than close behind and several times the dogs were a ways behind.
Thanks goes out to Joey for hosting, we all hada blast! The dog work was phenomenal, and I'm glad there were some missed shots, it made the races much longer

Joe shot 2, each w/ 1 shot, Shorty shot 1, Dean is still working on his 1st bunny, Buck got him 2, and Victor shot his 1st and is hooked!
Unfortunately Dean got pics of my dogs lying down panting, something I swear they've never done before, well until now
