Does anyone know of any land to hunt on in this area? I have never joined a hunt club but would consider if the right opportunity came up.There does not seem to be much game land in this area.

Check out the Pee Dee Nat'l Wildlife Refuge just north of Wadesboro on the Pee Dee river.
Bow season is free and open to the public. The managed gun hunts are handled by a lottery system with a small application fee and a permit fee (if you get pulled).
A little less than 8,500 acres and some mighty fine deer hunting.

hey bloodhound where is that located. i have heard good about uwharrie but i have also heard that it is full of people. there is another little spot of game lands off 801 and 64 in mocksville called perkins game land, i hunted out there some but it is also loaded with people. i would be interested in going to that one you are talking about, depending on where it is.

Go to map 84 on this site.

The gameland is south of South Mountains State Park.
I was up there this weekend and the entrance off SR1900 is closed so don' t go there. I didn' t have time to check out the other entrances to the gameland. I am going to go back up there this weekend.

Mapquest estimates it at 1hour 45 minutes. Most of the way would be on I-40. There is plenty of camping available at South Mountains State Park if you could stay over night. Just to let you know, I have never hunted there, but plan to this spring.
