Default A memorable Northern VA rabbit hunt

We can't forget how we all got started in hunting. Somewhere along the lines, most of us were taken under someone's wing and shown the ropes. I'm sure you've all seen my pics w/ my young son who I love taking hunting, but here's something a little different.

Yesterday was a day that I was able to return the favor to a couple old-time beaglers. The two gentlemen used to own packs of beagles and beagling was their life. They said they'd never get out of it, but after many years of uncertain healt they said it was just too much to handle and raise the dogs.

We went to a farm in Fauquier and they shot 4 rabbits in a couple hours, w/ the dogs stroking each one! 2 red fox jumped out of an area and they were shocked that the dogs didn't even think twice about running the fox It was like taking a kid hunting for the 1st time seeing their eyes light up when the dogs started running the 1st rabbit. It was even neater to see them watch in anticipation as the dogs circled the rabbits bringing the bunnies closer and closer to them! Here's a couple pics of a buddy of mine w/ Jerry and Jim who had the time of their lives yesterday.

I am glad someone else feels Sunday is a bad day for me to hunt and this is why I can't hunt on Sundays.

Thanks for the invite Steve. I won't be able to go this weekend and Monday isthe State of Union Address, which means a double shift for me, so thats out too. Hopefully sometime in Feb. if the offer still stands, I would love to chase some rabbits with you.

It too was a pleasure to meet you and do business with you. Once I get something figure out with the roller I will show you a picture.
