Whats better hoop net or slat traps for catfish?

I am planning on putting one out in a small creek by my house. It will range from 3-16 feet deep, also what is the best type bait used? Thanks

hoopnets. rotten cheese logs in mesh bag or rotten soy beans

Just stick your arm in a hole along the bank and poke around. If something snaps onto your hand jerk it out. Nothing like noodling.
