Avon Park is a decent place to hunt. I do not like the way thenew leadership has come into Avon Park andjacked up the prices for permits. One of theproblems with Avon park is that you pay $275 for a permit and the base can close down on any given day due to ongoing operations. It is some hard hunting and yes definitely get yourself some snake boots. Also be careful around the waterways. Huge gators

Snake boot's i got. A clue on where to hunt this place I don't. It's my first season with a bow & first time at this place. They can't answer many questions over the phone either. I have hunted Three Lakes in Osceola county for 3 yrs. now and have had no luck. I seen some small does and a spike buck but by the time general gun rolls around archery and muzzel loader have already been there and scared every thing away.

Wow, the price has gone through the roof in the past ten years, from what I remember, cant remember the number, but when you go in not far past the camp-grounds make the first right turn, then the next left, stay on that road about 1/4 mile, that area "was" planted pine and some thick pallametos, I shot most of my deer in that area. I stopped hunting there in 97 due to the "CITY SLICKERS" hunting there. I was sitting in my stand one morning watching the turkeys running around and some guy and his kid come ditty-bopping through the woods with some stylish mirror sunglasses on, after severale attemps to signal them, they got close enough to hear the turkeys and got into the ready mode "RAMBO STYLE", wasnt even turkey season, I got nervous enough to stand up and yell at them. Ill be danged if they didnt come up to the base of my tree and start a conversation. That and a few other ordeals was enough for me, now I mainly hunt 85 acres all by my lonesome up here in N E Georgia.

85 acres all by your self. Thats great. You wont find that down here. I've gone as far as asking farmers to hunt their land but no luck. The price of land down here is just out of range for most. Not looking for a huntin buddy are ya? LOL
