Saw a buck in Yorktown yesterday with half a rack. Haven't been out looking for them yet.

I have been putting my trailcams out for a month now and trying to get a time frame of when the bucks around me are shedding. From over a month of pics and scouting I determined that the bucks started dropping on or around Feb. 8th and were completely shed by Feb. 21. Now I am sure that there is the odd buck that is still holding, but for the most part they are done. I live in Northern VA and the land I scouted is in Oakton. There are great numbers of bucks on the land and we take a substantial number of does each season. Only one buck was taken this season. He was a 139" 8 pointer. I will begin looking this weekend if the weather allows.

I am hunting a property that is not too far from there. I thought most of that land was in a park. If you want to come down and hunt for sheds with me there, you are more than welcome. You keep what you find and will be welcome any time.

Mike the place my cousins hunt backs up to the park. Its a finger of land maybe 300 yards wide with a creek running thru it.When I make ittoVaI'd be happy to shed hunt with you and I could show you some spots to shed hunt also.My son and I found a big shed with 6 points.I guess it would score about 75 inches.I've shed hunted N.Va for 25 years.I've found alot of sheds there but unfortunitly alot of the spots have been built up.I used to have a spot off Telegraph Rd that was good for 8 or 10 sheds every year but they put a road thru it and now I find 1or2 a year if im lucky. In the past I found two sets that score 170 or better there.
