I just got off the phone with Mark Taylor (Roanoke Times) - yes, he called ME! He told me all about the findings from the DGIF survey, and we had a great conversation, talking about hunting, where we hunt, Sunday hunting, etc...etc... He's a super nice guy and very very supportive.
READ 'EM AND WEEP!!!!!!!! 62% ------ YES
34% ------ NO (Of the 62%, 52% were strongly supportive,
Of the 34%, 28% were strongly opposed.)
Woo-hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [8D]
Now, it might be an excellent idea to contact your state delegate and senator and express your support for Sunday hunting, now that the "official" findings have been discovered!

RE: VA Hunters..... (hot off the press - Sunday hunting!!!!)
I guess my negative view on Sunday hunting is really more towards Sunday hunting in general firearms season. If they allowed the sunday hunting in only bow season and blackpowder season I'd be fine with it, but when it comes to firearms season where there are dogs in the woods I just can't support it. The deer are always so shook up after Saturdays because of the big clubs dropping dogs in the woods that they need that day to recover. I also think that will lead into more days where dogs are in the woods that were left out there from the weekend. I can't tell you how many times I've had a beautiful still hunting day ruined by dogs. I've learned to deal with dogs in the woods though.I do know that on Sundays a lot of hunters go and track their dogs and try to catch them, by allowing them to hunt on Sunday it will only lead to more dogs in the woods during the weekdays where people like myself are still hunting. Monday's have always been my most successful huntingdays, the deer are calmer and I always see more it seems.
I just think if Sunday hunting is passed there should be some strong limitations to what can go on. Personally I enjoy having Sunday to relax and take a break from hunting. I know some people work all week and can only get out there on the weekend though.
I just think a lot more thought should be put into this and hopefully more peoples opinions will be heard before they reach their final decision.
Also, from what I understand after talking to the legislative aides and the "live help" system that they have, HB1639 is still active! Delegate Marshall didn't pull the bill, so it's still out there! [8D]
