I hunt near Drasco and Greers Ferry and no one has been seeing many deer yet. There have been a few killed but not near as many as years past. Plenty of sign and we see them moving at night but not much luck during the day. The local check station only checked two deer on Sunday, the second day of Muzzle loading season! I hope the rain and cooler weather will change things around. Good Hunting.

on a recent trip to town (8 miles) i counted 32 deer on the sides of the road and along the airport runway. i see anywhere from 5 and up on just about any trip to town. i live outside of Fordyce in Dallas county. been watching a nice 10 pt. that stays around the airport. he was really inpressive in velvet. made a quick trip out to get a feeder that i needed to change thebarrel on and had to nearly run a doe off when i got out of the truck. just couldn't shoot her-i don't think she realized i was human and she just kept watching me as i moved around. had the smoke pole out, but just watched her walk away. saw about a dozen squirrels around the feeder and deer stand. need to thin them out some before gun season. maybe i'll get that chance next week. y'all be safe and Good Hunting-Bill
