Default Noob question for VA hunters

I haven't hunted deer in VA yet. I have been scouting out some spots down in Phelps WMA. My question is, do you clean and gut your deer before you go to the check station? I shoot at the archery range at Belvoir and have noticed they have a hoist and spot to clean your deer. When I hunted in WY we cleaned them out in the field. In florida we did it at the hunting camps cleaning station? Any info would help me out especially from guys who hunt Phelps.
thanks

There is no kind of deer cleaning station at Phelps. I just gut and field dress and then skin and quarter at home.

You can gut it in the field. Check-in can be done on the phone, very easy. Good luck at Phelps, lots of deer(and hunters) I live a few mile from Phelps and there are good pops in the area.
