Default Moving to Manassas, VA area

Well I have a job offer in Manassas, Va so I may be moving up there. Rent is really high. The lowest prices are $800 for one bedroom. Well, that is pricey for me since I'm right out of school. Any good hunting up there? Anyone have a house for rent? Seriously though.

where in manassas? I'm in winchester, about an hour from you, if that far. don't know of any houses for rent. if you need to, check out a realtor. I have a great one (I don't recommend anyone btw) and she has helped my friends find places in a few hours when their previous realtor said there were none to rent.

The only thing in the area is Quantico. Other then that you will have to travel to hunt. No rifles at Quantico. Shotgun, BP and arrows only.

i would ask around once you get out in manassas. Still a lot of open grounds and farms that might let you hunt. I hunt in fairfax on a small piece of ground with my bow. Anytime I drive around and see deer. I ask the person to hunt. What can it hurt.....they say no, you are in the same position you were before you asked. if they say yes, then you have a new property to hunt. Quantico is huge, others have talked about prince william forest and there are a few others. I lived in fairfax and paid $918 bucks for a 500 sq ft apartment. You should be able to find something a little cheaper out there. good luck!

I wouldn't mind traveling a little ways to a good hunting ground. Is Quantico over hunted? I would bowhunt Quantico if anything.

I have looked pretty hard on the net for decent prices but they are all in the mid 800's and 900's. I need to go up there and look around. I would really like to rent a house and have some privacy so my dog can run free and I could shoot my bow.

a house for 800-900 bucks ain't going to happen i don't think. maybe if you go a little further out from there but you will be in the middle of nowhere. the housing market is just not right down here. I am from PA and my money up there can buy me something double or triple of what is sold down here. oh well....

What area in Manassas will you be working? Traffic is a nightmare, if you will be 9-5, you may want to live in Manassas. If you will be working odd hours, or if you can deal with the traffic you might look around Gainseville, Haymarket, Warrenton, Bealeton, and Culpeper. Rent will be cheaper the further you get from Man., but with gas prices I don't know if you will save any $.

I've lived in this area my whole life, if you have any questions send me a pm

I will be working at Micron Industries as a instrumentation technician. My hours are going to be 7am-4pm. I would really like an apartment or house b/c I will have my dog and I don't want another slobby roommate like in my current situation. Anything else I should know about the area.
Thanks, Duc
