H8. Open spring wild turkey season on April 10 each year. During years in which April 10 falls on a Sunday, the spring turkey season would open on April 9.
Justification: This proposal was requested by some turkey hunters in southeastern North Carolina.
This proposal shortens the season unnecessarily. It especially robs kids of a Saturday to hunt 5 out of 7 years. Kids are the future of hunting. Managing the wildlife populations is getting to be harder as we lose hunters. I would much prefer last year's proposal where east of i95 started their season the first Sat. in April and west of I95 on the second Sat. in April.

go to low country SC turkey season starts there around March 15 then it comes in in the upstate April 1 then head up to NC for there opening week. that is what allot of my clients do
