Depends on location...where do you live? Bucks are in pre-rut right now in southern virginia, so as long as the weather doesn't swing hot we should be seeing the rut in about a week.

Hey Texans!,

I livein Oklahoma but found a cool site that breaks the rut down according to the different areas of Texas. Go to tpwd.state.tx.us to get the information.

i totally disagree with that link and when they are saying florida's rut is on......i have only hunted for a few years now and i know i have seen more bucks chasing does, mid to late oct. - early nov....they are saying jan. that is a crock..... i think a poll of the hunters actually hunting the states would be better than that.

Men, this year is gonna be a carbon copy of the 1997 and 2002 seasons. The rut will be late, probably thanksgiving week and a couple weeks there after. The rutting moon is determing it this year as the other two years mentioned. The bucks will be crazy this season guys so get your nerves together and enjoy this year. Won't happen this good again until 2013! Mark my words!

Alabama is usually later than anywhere else. Usually January.
