Default Hunting Georgia's Alatamaha wma

Has anyone hunted Georgia's Altamaha wma? If so, I would like any info you may be able to give me. My father in law and I are planning a 8 day deer hunting trip there in November. Thank you ahead of time for any info.

I have hunted there before. It's best to get a boat, and a GPS.I would go to terraserver and look at some topo's to look at the pics so you can figure out where you might want to try. There isn't very much land to hunt from the road. They made some foodplots, but they aren't very far from the main road. You can put in at everett(between jesup, and brunswick),whichhas a public landing. There are other landings, but that's the only one I have put in at.The water is brackish tide water, and rises, and lowers with the tide.

I put in one time, and when I docked I pulled the boat up on shore, and left the motor down. When I came back the tide was down, and I had to get in the mud,and lift the boat up to get the motor up.[]That was a trip.I'm not trying to discourage you, because it has alot of game, and I saw something everytime when I hunted off of the river, except foronce.I shot a hog there one time.I saw some deer, but they saw me too.[8D]The best hunting is from the river.I never saw anything over by Cox which is the city(IT has both welcome signs on one post),that is where the checkstation is.There was a sign in box at everett also.If you need help finding the check station pm me or something and I'll help give you directions from I-95.It is 90% swamp, and marsh. The Islands are the best places to go for hogs.Butler,or champney.I doubt you'll run into many people.Hey,good luck.If that doesn't work out there still is four other WMA's close by.Sansavilla,Paulks pasture, and soon to be opened penholloway wma,and clay hole WMA.I'm sure one of them may be opened when you go hunting.Hope I helped.
