Default My squirrel dog

Most people on the dog board seem to prefer birddogs only. Not too many squirrel/coon dog guys over there, so I thought I'd share with you all a photo or two of my squirrel dog, Remington. He's an Original Mountain Cur. He just turned one year old and I hope to finish him out this summer and fall. Our season opens May 15 and runs through mid January. I am hoping to shoot a bunch out over him this year, and if I have the time, I might hunt him some with my friends and their coondogs. Mountain Curs hunt different from hounds. While hounds have sort of a melodious, musical voice, curs are more of a choppy, bark-every-single-breath type voice. When Rem was even more of a pup than he is now, (maybe 5 months old), he puffed out 82 barks in one minute while treeing a t-shirt!...LOL. I assure you he cares more for a squirrel than a t-shirt, too. Anyway, he is fun to hunt, so I thought I'd share a photo. This one he caught on the ground before it treed up when he was about 9 months old. Therefore, I didn't shoot this one.

Here is another pic taken about a month ago. He is a little more filled out here. He might grow a little more, but for the most part, he is a small cur. He sire 45 pounds and his momma is 38 pounds. Right now he weighs about 30 pounds, so he should fill out a little more.
