Default How to??

I was wondering if anybody could tell me how to hunt wood chucks. Like where(best terrain) and When(Best time of day). Also what is the difference between a woodchuck and a ground hog? If you know anything else that might be helpful I would appreciate it.

Woodchuck, groundhog and whistle pig are all the same animal. I like to hunt up on a wooded hill overlooking a field with short grasses. Usually I like to check out the field a day or so before hand just to see if there are chucks in the field. Then I get all camo-ed up (except for orange hat, PA law) and sit on the wood line of the hill. That's my ideal for chuck hunting.

Just like these guys said. They also love clover. They generally make their tunnels in the field. I have shot them out of a tree before leaning over the field. I thought it was a record squirrel only to find it to be a ground hog. LOL We tried eatting it. Taste terrible.
They are fun to hunt.

actually i just got back from hinting them i got him right along the side of a ditch with water seperating two farm fields. I also like to walk down old R&R tracks. you will also find them around old barns or buildings. there are such an abudence of them around here i never put camo on. the ones that i mostly find on R&R tracks are tricky to get, couse they won't give you alot of time to shoot them once they spot you. i hunt them from noon till dusk. most of them i get between 5 and 7.

if your hunting in fields, i usually walk around the field for awhile looking for their holes, if you want mark the holes by putting a stick in the ground near the hole so you can remember where it is. go out to an area a good range away from the hole and set up. i use a remington 700 in 270 with a 3-12x sightron scope, its my deer rifle but it works perfect, i also got myself a harris bipod that works great when your prone in a field. use your rifle scope to glass if you dont have a good pair of binoculars or spotting scope. watch the holes, they usually come out if its a nice sunny day. i usually go when i get home from school so around 2-6 is a good time. all this stuff isnt hard to learn, just get out there and learn from expirience, i just started hunting them seriously last year. good luck and remember... one shot, one kill
