For some reason the squirrels are harder to skin, is there a trick that you do to make them skin. All my friends tried but couldnt completely skin one! Tell me your tricks please

well, if your lookin to save the hide then you shouldn't do what im about to tell you. if the purpose is just to get the skin off then this works pretty good.

first, bunch up some on the back of its neck and snip it with a scizzors. this way you can at least get a finger in. then, work your fingers around, the skin will start to stretch and tear. eventually, you can push one shoulder out of the hide and then the leg, and then the other leg. you may have to cut the feet off though 'cause they're always hard to get out. once the legs are out you can start to "peel" the hide down the body and then just do the same thing w/the back legs. also, snip off the tail.

its hard to explain but works well if you do it right. the whole process usually takes me 15 mins.

good luck!

in the middle of the back pull the hair off with your knife and thumb. pull the hair off with the width of about 2 inches by 1 in. cut longways to the meat. get your fingers in there and pull till the skin rips on the stomach. pull skinto the neck and joints of the from legs cut the legs off at the joint cut the head off at the kneck then pull the front legs back with you fingers and pull your knife through the chest bone and up through the pelvis take the guts out. then pull the skin to the tail and joints in the back legs and cut the feet off at the joints cut the tail off. It takes me about 3 or 4 mins a squirrel

I always put them in a bucket full of water first, that keeps the hair from sticking to the meat, then I take my hatchet and cut off all four legs, tail , then the head. that makes it easyer. it all comes off in one motion like a tee shirt.

I skin my squirrels by first clipping off both front feet then making a slit from one hind leg straight across and up the other hind leg and peeling the fur down just far enough to snip the tail then step on the tail and pull on the hind legs and it usually peels right off. Its much like skinning a muskrat if you have ever done that.

You have got to check this squirrel cleaning video out. I haven't tried it yet---but will certainly try this Fall

That video is how I've always done it.

If you do a lot, you can do a squirrel from start to finish in under a minute.

Sometimes the big fox squirrels require a little grunting, though.[:@]

I found with skinning anything that it is easier when they are still warm. I learned this on muskrats. I can skin one in about one and a half minutes.
