If anybody here had used the 6.5 X 55 Swedish cartridge for bagging coyotes, please give me your recommendations for bullet weight and construction that has provided you with good results. Good results meaning rliable quick kills with minimal pelt damage. I have a .243 at my disposal also, but on occasion can think of carrying the Swede.
try some nosler BT's i imagine u could find some for ur swed in 140gr or try some Hornady VMAX the bt's dont do much pelt damage but lay the smack down on a yote! I myself would carry the 243 with some 95gr BT's either my reloads or some 95gr Winchester Silvertips! Best of luck!

RE: 6.5 X 55 for coyotes...What Bullet?
in the 6.5 id think even a fmj would work fine on a yote, I've killed yotes with my mosin nagant ( 7.62x54R ) with FMJ's and 200 grain soft points, asfar as the wound channels I think I'd stick with FMJ's if i was interested in keeping the pelts.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a 6.5x55 just a .308? If so, it wouldn't really matter what size round you used, just so long as it hit. Personally, I'd stick with the .243.
6.5x55 is a .264" diameter bullet x 55 mm long case. .308 is the 7.62 x 51 NATO. I am not sure that there is a good selection of varmint bullets for the 6.5 diameter. I would look at the light Nosler BT's and the Barnes X. I think Sierra makes some light bullets for varmints and/or target practice that should fill the bill. Not sure about Hornady. Speer only makes a 120, and 140 grain softpoint.
