Default .22 Mag for Squirrel and Rabbit

Hey,
I was just wondering if a .22 mag would be over kill on smaller game like squirrel and rabbit. If I was to take a head shot would there be anything left of the head, and if I took a heart/lung shot would it wreck a lot of meat? Basically, I want a .22 Mag so I can have the option to coyote hunt with it. But if its to much for squirrel and rabbit I will just stick with a
.22 LR.
Thanks,
Chris

Ok, thats what I thought. Would I be able to kill a fox with a .22lr if I shot it in the head with a large load over 40grains?
Thanks,
Chris
