hey i'm glad to see that you're getting into hunting, you'll love it more everytime you go
but a .223 is a better gun for varmints and predators. and the ammo ain't that expensive!
but if u plan on going deer hunting too, get something bigger. i have an "all-purpose" gun that i use for deer, bear, fox, coyote, and bobcats. my trusty .308. i know that seems like a lot of gun for small animals, but i haven't ruined a hide yet

The .243 may be over kill but if you plan on deer hunting it will do the job with proper shot placement. I am disabled so my funds are severly limited so I use my .270win now thats over kill. Welcome to the forum!

hey im glad ur starting to enjoy hunting and all but the 243 is a great choice for coyotes and deer but i wouldnt go as far for coons and foxes it just has way to much power for smaller animals like that if ur getting into squirel hunting i would suggest a shotgun for early season hunts and a 22 for late saeson when the leaves have fallen off the trees but i use a 22 all season lol ive done pretty good so far.I killed 105 last year with my 22. WELCOME TO THE FORUM! !! Hunting is my life !!
