Default Called in my first coyote...

Well, called in my first coyote but we didn't get him. I started with a cottontail distress and after a few minutes howled a couple times. I alternated a few times for about 20 minutes. Well, my buddy (who owns the land we were hunting on) was watching the downwind side and I was watching upwind. He spots the coyote standing about 100 yards out but he doesn't shoot ... instead he decides to make a lot of noise and tell me that he's out there. His intentions were good because I think he really wanted me to get the shot instead of himself, but he went about it the wrong way. Well anyways, by the time I looked over the coyote was booking away from us.

I'm going to try and get out again this weekend but this time I'm going alone.

Default RE: Called in my first coyote...

When I go out with another caller, or two, or three, or how ever many guys, we all know to use the lip squeek if we see a predator coming and suspect that the other hunters can't see it. The lip squeek won't scare any critter off, and will get everyones attention so that they are at the ready. Just something you might try with your buddy next time, and remember, two sets of eyes are better than one, just 'cause he screwed it up once, doesn't mean you'll do better by yourself., plus it's always more fun to be succesful with a partner, or two, or three, or
