Default Caliber Question

I want to buy a varmint gun but don't know what caliber i want. I want a gun that shoots fast and flat; for coyote, ground hog, maybe a deer, and a lot of target shooting. I'm considering the 220 swift, 22-250, 243, and the 308 (I know the 308 would be a lot for a ground hog)

Out of your choices I was going to say go with the 22-250, that is until ya through in the "maybe deer" part of it! If deer will be a possible targeted animal, better go with the .243. IMO!

If you plan on deer hunting the 243 if not go for the 22-250.

Of those choices .243.
You may also want to check out the 25-06. 70gr at 3700fps for coyotes and 115 to 120 at 3100 to 3200fps for deer.

.243 or .308 (if you don't want to eat the whistle pigs.)

If those are what your only going to consider than the .220 or .22-250.IMO. If you want to open your choices to a broader range of calibers than you could easyly go with any thing like the .220 swift, .221 fireball, .222, the new .204 ruger, .223, .22-250, .243, .25-06, or one of many other calaibers. I would personally go with the .22-250 or the new .204 because there is alot of options between the two.

For coyotes and deer a 243 winchester or 6mm remington.
For coyotes and smaller id look at the 223 rem or the 22-250 rem. Your alot more likely to pick up a box of the above mentioned at wally world than you are the 220 swift. Plus theres tons of loading for the two. The 223 will be cheaper to shoot, the 22-250 will be flatter shooting (less bullet drop), and alot faster.
