Squirrel calling is awesome!

Last night I was out bowhunting for deer, but I saw a squirrel about 60-70 yards out. I don' t know how I spotted him, but I did, somehow. Anyway, I pulled out a " young squirrel in disress call" and blew on it. Man, did he freeze up. Then he started to hustle down his tree, but froze again. Then I got out a regular squirrel call and smacked it with my hand real aggressively, as if I were another squirrel reacting to the distressed youngster. This, I think gave him more confidence and an " I got your back" sense as he hustled in. It was really cool watching him. I left him alone eventually, though, so he never completely found his way to me. Anyway, it was good calling practice, and I' ll know how to get ' em when I' ve got my .22 in the woods.

sounds like you had a great time, i' d like to try squirrel calling sometime, it sounds like fun, there are tons of squirrels where i hunt

Calling squirrels is outrageously awesome. i shot 8 squirrels by strictly calling last year. then if there were some close and i couldnt get a hot the call worked great.

I agree, squirrel calling is definitely awesome! Every
year I call squirrels and look forward to it as much
as anything else. I can' t even say how many I called
in this year but I shot 50 of them! I love it!

im glad im not the only one who had success with it. i was thinkin that my squirrels are just stupid. well wait whose arent?

So what calls are you all using. I really want to try it. I just scoped my Single Six just for small game so the calls are next.

i heard you can call squirrels by tapping a coin on your guns reciever. has any body heard or tried this?

I can make this noise with my mouth and i swear, everyone says it sounds either like a dying cat or a deranged squirrel.. anywho, squirrels always chirp back and freeze and look around, No buying calls for me!
