Default 2015-2016 Predator Contest

Ok guys, there's been some interest for a predator contest this year. The forum has had one in years past, so I figured I'd start it again and see what happens. I'm recycling the old rules. If anyone has suggestions throw them out there. Post your interest in signing up. Hopefully we can get 10 or so on here. Thanks to my7pointmonster for the recycled rules here.

Rules
Must post a picture with the kill including your weapon and a sign that says "15-16"
Must be taken by legal means

Contest starts October, 2015 and will end March 31, 2016

Scoring
Mountain Lion-50
Bear- 50
Bobcat- 35
Fisher- ??
Coyote-25
Fox(red/kit/gray)-20
Badger- 15
Raccoon-10
Opossum-10
Scoring is done PER animal, so if you kill 3 foxes that's 60 points; 2 raccoon's that's 20 And so on.

I can't really think of much else, should be an awesome season, I'm looking forward to see what happens with this. Anyone has any other ideas on how to improve this or anything that should be taken into consideration then just let me know I'll make sure I add it.

-Jake

I am flexible on these rules. I often hunt alone and hate trying to take a "selfie" with the game and a gun. In the squirrel contest we just do the squirrel and gun typically. If everyone is alright with it I vote we allow D80 to post his picture and be scored.

I'm fine with just the animal and the gun I hate taking selfies when I hunt alone

I'm in Pensacola, Florida. Man I just got a coyote last week November 17th and also a raccoon but no picture of me in it because I hunt solo. I have the gun in the photo but not me. I am fine with D80. Checking the date I shot the coon. Shot the coon on 11/02 here is it from my local forum. Sorry for not having the firearm in the pic for the coon I took her with the one that is in the picture with the coyote

For those who already have predator kills if you can post the picture of the kill and a weapon preferably I'll score them since I am late starting this off. Honor system here guys. This is all for fun, just a place to share hunting pictures and such. We'll see how this season goes and maybe adjust rules and the contest next year if we get good interest. Also if anybody has any suggestions feel free to post or message me.

I'm in nomercy448.

Hopefully I can get away from work and keep the kid happy enough to get out a few times.

Few thoughts on Rules for future contests:
  • Bobcats are rare, so they're usually worth as much or more than coyotes.
  • Double digit scores get crazy pretty quick, 5's for coyotes and 10's for wolves/lions/lynx seems to work out pretty well
  • Easy way to keep guys honest - kill pic with the quarry, weapon, and a sign referencing some 'catch phrase' from the contest - the "catch phrase" has to be unique each year so guys can't stockpile pics. I RARELY am willing to post pics of myself online, and I'm back to hunting solo most of the time, so "selfies" are hard - having a reference page keeps guys honest. See below from one I submitted a few years ago, the "catch phrase" was "peep show" - didn't have the weapon pictured because that wasn't part of the contest:

If not obvious - THIS IS NOT A SUBMISSION FOR THE CURRENT CONTEST!!!

  • Badgers are usually included, equal score to coons (although they're usually more rare, so I always think they should be higher)

Just a few thoughts, take them for what you paid for them.
