Default Need help with bugs while squirrel hunting!

How do you beat the bugs during early squirrel season?
I took my daughter out yesterday, with 2 coats of bug spray, but we couldn't keep still from all the mosquitoes.
Several other hunter got their limit, in a few hours. WTH?

Buy yourself a Thermo Cell and use it.

Best invention ever made if you're out sitting anywhere there are skeeters or black flies!

I try to have as little exposed skin as possible. Heavy long pants, long sleeved shirt, long socks, hat, gloves and facemask. All of this clothing gets treated with permethrin spray days ahead of time (has to dry). Sawyer's is the common brand you'll find in big box stores, but if you shop around on amazon you can get a concentrate that's much cheaper.

Additionally I spray the lighter weight clothing (shirt and facemask) and the exposed skin around my neckline with 40% DEET spray in the morning before heading out.

It seems to take care of the skeeters for the first month of the season until the nights start getting chilly in October. The permethrin spray lasts over a month and doubles as tick repellant, which is a huge plus in the Lyme infested area I live.

Thermo cells work 23.95 at Wal Mart.

Sea to Summit bug jacket and mitts serves as camo as well, 29.95 LL Bean.
Other brands cheaper thru Amazon.
Amazon Amazon

Amazon Amazon

I bought the one from LL Bean and am very happy with it. I have even used it when inspecting the bees and never got stung.
