Default 2015 Frog season

So far its been a great season here in Ohio. Its only been in a couple weeks but we already have a whole mess of frogs ready for the frying pan. I know a lot of people don't go gigging but check out or video and maybe it will spark someone's interest.

Geez, and I thought you had been all over! Frogs and turtles have a season in a lot of the states and they are both some good eating and the take has to be limited just like other big and small game!

I know all about hunting and eating both frogs and turtles but I never lived in a place with a season on either. We could take them pretty much anytime we wanted with no bag limit. Guess they just want to regulate everything now.

Frog season is nothing new, there has been one in PA since at least the 40s. We used to catch them with a bamboo pole and a piece of fishing line and a hook with a half of a wide red rubber band on it. Just jiggle it in front of them and you are on your way to a mess of frogs legs fried in butter.

Here is a tool that should help fill your saute' pan.

The French call them "Grenouille"; in Provence they make a big deal out of them.

La Grenouille - for decades considered one of the BEST restaurants in the USA.

Bon Appetit !!!

Ate a lot of frog legs as a young farm boy. Snapping turtle too.
I am not sure when Michigan made a season and set bag limits. I know I don't see the snappers like I did as a kid so I see the reason for bag limits.
