Hey guys, I' ve got this pesky racoon that keeps getting into my garbage. I can' t shoot him because I live in city limits. I thought I could have some fun trying to trap him. Anyone have any tips for trapping a racoon. Thanks
when we trapped ours, we used a box trap that was about 10" tall and about 24" long...somethin like that. dog food worked pretty good for bait, but from the way it sounds, i' d use a little bit of food/garbage thats been thrown out. set it beside the garbage can.
If you live within the city limits a live trap is going to be your best option. These work pretty well. I would bait with Jelly or fresh fruit with strong odor, such as cantelope. Dog food, sardines, etc. will work very well but you will have a hard time keeping the neighborhood cats out of the trap. The fruit based products should help with that. Good Luck.
Use a bucket trap. Cut out slots big enough to fit a 220 conibear springs. Place some kind of garbage the coon is attracted to, or put in a can of sardines in the back of the bucket. I like to set the trap with the trigger wires on the bottom of the trap. Place the trap by your garbage before dark. By morning you should have the dead masked bandit in the bucket.
