You got that right. I've been "swiming" on many nights rescuing coonhounds. For future reference, don't grab the coon. The result is that you end up neck deep in the creek, holding an angry coon, and NO IDEA what to do with it!

Back to the original topic of the OP's fine dogs, what breed are they? They look like a Basset and Beagle cross or something? Low to the ground, but not quite as squatty and long as a basset, and more lean like a beagle? Good lookin hounds at any rate, and obviously the proof is in the pudding, them boys got good noses!!

they are akc reg. 13" female 100% beagle.
