I went on line and checked that Ruger out and it looks SWEET! I hope you have fun shooting it. I started out many years ago shooting a Crossman 760 pump in .170 and learned alot about shooting and hunting with that gun. Thats also how I learned how to handle a gun safely and how to always know what is down range whenever I took it shooting as those pellets fly a long way. I would take head shots at squirrels and took quite a few down with it. Good luck and hope you enjoy your new gun.....BudMan-

Oops! I mistakenly said that the air gun I had was a model 760. It was actually the 766 american classic. The 760 is what a friend of mine had and my 766 could shoot circles around that gun. I got the 766 for Christmas in 1977 and got many years of enjoyment out of that air rifle.

That gun looks like a good one - and from a good company. You probably can't go wrong getting a Ruger.
Have you ever shot a spring gun before? There is a bit of a learning curve to shooting one, and getting the most accuracy the gun is capable of. If you are interested I can give you some good tips that will shorten that curve and let you enjoy your new gun a lot more. I remember, that when I got my first spring gun, I was sure frustrated till I learned how to shoot it. It definitely isn't like shooting a cartridge rifle.

Ya tips will be good , Nope never shot a spring gun before lol. Im going to set up targets and cans and learn to shoot on them before i do some squirrel hunting. I got a friend that lives back in some good woods, she has a farm of chicken and stuff there, well she has lots of land and she said i can go shooting there any time i want woot some woods to shoot my new gun in lol.

Lucky you - to have a wonderful place like that to hunt. I hope you do well.
The tips I spoke of are only for a spring gun.
First - You do not have to hold a springer as tightly as you do a powder gun. Hold the gun a bit loose and let it recoil and jump naturally as you shoot it. If you try to hold it hard and control it too much, you will not be as accurate.
Second - After you squeeze the trigger keep holding your sight picture - (I call it follow through).
Third - don't rest the gun on a hard surface. It will tent to shoot away from a hard rest.
Springers can drive you crazy at times - especially if you have a scope that wont hold its' zero. A spring gun is really hard on scopes, and if you have a cheap one - it just wont last. But they are still a blast to shoot.
Good shooting, and I hope this helps you get started in the right direction.
