I use to squirrel hunt but have spent the last many years in a deer stand. The one thing I have learned about squirrels while deer hunting is they disappear between 9 and 10 in the morning. I watch them climb out of their nests and down to the ground right at daylight. They browse around and drive me crazy thinking a deer might be coming until 9 or 10 am. Then they just disappear for a nap with their bellies full.

Then an hour two before dark they show up again, browse some more and then head up the trees to their nest.
I do see an occasional squirrel between those times, but not many. Not enough to go after anyway.
