Default vermin and the current virus and changes humans made

rats and virus 19 changes to food availability,

many of you have cars stored in garages and don,t think of this as a threat normally,

but

with the current drastic changes in human behavior,

the millions of rats that commonly feed regularly off discards in restaurant dumpsters,

grocery store, dumpsters, your local 7/11 etc.

and food left discarded in parks, playgrounds and other areas,

that with the current lock-down are no longer food sources

those vermin, are now finding food access much restricted,

you can expect your home or shop to be checked out and searched,

by the vermin if its located close to what was prior to this, a food supply.

so your homes and shops, car interiors,

home wiring etc are now more at risk,

it would be prudent to set a few rat/mouse traps,

and maybe place poison where pets and kids can't get access to those items.

even if youve never had issues before,

you might be amazed at the results youll see , under current non-typical conditions

With all due respect, could you do us all a favor and proofread and reformat your posts before sending? This is actually a pretty valuable description of a trend relatively unrecognized by many folks (farm folk are pretty familiar with a similar occurrence shortly following harvest every year when field foodstuffs have been removed and the tramp grain dropped in harvest is exhausted, but they’re obviously not vulnerable because they’re not in proximity to these urban garbage sources).

But the ridiculous line breaks make your posts painful to read and difficult to follow. You obviously have a broken manner of speaking, lots of modifier phrases inserted in the middle of other thoughts, but the paragraph form, or lack thereof, of your copy/paste style leaves your messages totally broken. It’s exceptionally distracting, and it really seems like a reasonable adult, especially a moderator, could recognize the problem and make a simple adjustment to improve the readership’s ability to take in the info. I appreciate this post wasn’t flooded with internet sourced images and links with scant relevance, a major improvement over some of your posts, but the broken type style you use is still very difficult to follow.

While his use of punctuation is "atypical", I had no problem following his post.

I agree with the message he is putting out.

Agree with Valorius, nothing will discourage a poster more than having their spelling or grammar corrected.

You boys go read some of his other posts and then tell me it’s something that should be encouraged....

Unintelligible PCC post

  • or as many guys see them,
  • a rather archaic , tool that has decades ago been superseded,
  • with the much more powerful ,
  • m1 carbine,
  • AR-15/
  • AK-47 style carbines
  • These other caliber options like .40 S&W and 10mm and 45 acp
  • are generally much more scarce or limited availability versions)
  • are fun to plink with and ammo's reasonably priced
  • these can be fun for informal plinking.
  • and certainly would in some cases be a good personal defensive weapon for the home,
  • or wife to have available in your home
  • ,as recoil and muzzle blast is very very low and even a novice can generally shoot these well, with minimal practice,
  • provided shes willing to gain familiarity and practice in its use.
  • but its a weapon platform the military in most countrys no longer issues
  • ,in significant numbers,
  • they are generally reserved for special ops troops in very limited numbers
  • pistol caliber carbines are not generally used by most front line combat troops,
  • and there's a damn good reason,
  • most pistol caliber carbines are almost the size and weight of an intermediate rifle caliber carbine,
  • in calibers like 223/5.56 and 7.62/39 and similar cartridges,
  • those calibers have more than twice the punch,
  • and three times the effective range.
  • most of the current commercial available pistol carbines could never pass military durability trials
  • (the UZI , H&K MP 5 and AK and AR 15 based versions are an exception)
  • yeah, police and security forces use some versions,
  • so ask yourself if you were given a choice in weaponry and in either case,
  • weight and size were similar.
  • the smaller pistol caliber carbines are mostly used with suppressors
  • (silencers??)
  • (that suppressor being added requires an additional ATF form and $200 tax stamp and approval)
  • where the smaller pistol calibers, and 8"-12" barrels,
  • make a great deal of sense,
  • is with the suppressor use.
  • because they are designed and used at under 100 yards,
  • to take out sentries with greatly reduced noise in the military use.
  • Id bet most of us, if given a choice in a potential personal defensive, combat scenario,
  • would step up to an intermediate rifle caliber carbine,
  • in calibers like 223/5.56 , 30 us govt carbine and 7.62/39 and similar cartridges,
  • personally Id damn sure rather carry a carbine ,
  • in calibers like 223/5.56 and 7.62/39 and similar cartridges,
  • now semi auto carbines are available in under 16" barrel lengths,
  • but if you buy one it requires a NFA $200 tax stamp and ATF approval,
  • which has restrictions and can take 4-7 months for approval
  • a carbine with a 16" barrel is the size of an intermediate cartridge carbine and to me it's a bad trade-off ,
  • you lost potential range and power, using a pistol caliber,
  • but are carrying the similar weight and size weapon.
If you might prefer something thats a good deal less military in appearance and very effective, in a personal defense carbine
theres always the option of a marlin 44 mag lever gun

whats you thoughts?

btw Ive played with quite a few of these carbines
theres a few I like (the uzi , MP5 and AK versions)
that impressed me as a personal defensive weapon option,
and several I think are basically junk,
(yes just personal opinion, so yours may differ)
hi-point and keltec come to mind

whats your experience

on topic LOL
I live rural
all my neighbors tend to keep to themselves, few here grow there own foods, so they been relying all there lives mostly on store bought foods
most stay in doors all the time as many are rather old now and have been this way for a decade or more

we have zero issue's with rats,
field mice can happen and they will get in places at times, but most folks here know this and as such have been dealing with them all there lives, knowing how to and what to do to try your best top deter and keep them from doing any damage!

I don't really for see mass numbers of things getting worse in many MODERN places where health standards are meet by most

places where things have always been IFFY , will be the places where things MIGHT get worse

but this is I doubt anything new to the folks in these places!
as if they been living in places with high amounts of rats and such, and have NOT been correcting things, when numbers were lower, I doubt there going to start now?
they will face the new issue's as they happen and never get ahead of them!

@NoMercy: He is probably a victim of a public school education.

I've seen some videos of Rats swarming the streets in New Orleans since this all broke out. It reminds me of that old movie Willard.
