Go pick up a cottontail distress call from a sporting goods store. The Primos Cat Nip is a great one thats easy to use and offers a variety of sounds but others work just as well.

Scouting goes a long way...................hunt where you've seen them !

Predator calling is "a good way to attract" them, but set up wrong and it won't matter if they come or not, you likely won't see them or won't get them killed. Setting up properly is the key to successful calling and killing. Lots and lots of different calls on the market that will call predators, but if'n you don't set up correctly, it won't matter.
If you've never been calling before, try to find someone in your area that is known to be successful, and try to tag along with them. Seeing it done will shorten the learning curve quickly. 2nd best thing to do is to buy a dvd, or two, with predator calling on them. Watch, listen, learn and then apply.

Go to extactly where you see them (not just "all over the place") in full camo, including a head cover and gloves.

Pattern their movements in the area and learn how to best plan your final approach.

Otherwise, all you will do is educate them - understand, because they do !!!

Set-up in good cover with a good view, especially down wind of your location.

You would be wise to bring a low slung chair or at laest a cushion, so you can remain motionless for extended periods of time.

Put a stick and strink with a turkey feather on it about 100 feet out front & upwind of your location.

Call softly until you get better...................they'll know exactly where the call is coming from, so no need to continuing calling once you see them (remain motionless).

You must see them before they see you !!!

Bring shooting sticks so you can prop your gun on them to steady your shot.

1 in 10 attempts is good for a hawk getting a mousse, so don't get discourged.

You heard Howler...................Experience is the best teacher.
