Another california coyote down for 2010!
Went to two different spots yesterday. First spot was a perfect setup and spotted two, but they caught sight of me reaching for my binocs and started to trot away. tried following them, and had them lined up for a two-in-one shot, but i was freestanding and didn't trust i could make the 200yd shot since i was out of breath and my sights were movin all over the place. so i passed it up and followed them some more. tried a long poke once i caught my breath, but missed. not by much..
went to another spot, sat down up in a bush with the wind blowing hard in my face. started a jackrabbit distress with my primos lil dog. only called for about 30 seconds and by the time i put the call down i noticed a coyote HAULING ASS straight towards me. the coyote ended up 15yds in front of me before it paused to look around for where the sounds was coming from. he never saw it coming!
