Default When trapping Coyotes

I'm on my second year of coyote trapping, although, I have been around it since I was young and have in my head the basic principals
of the sport.I trap in upstate New York where good amounts of snow
falls.Other than dying and waxing is is a good idea to use wax paper
over my sets to prevent freezing?

Yes. Im in the same boat as you (my second year coming up). You need to cover your trap with something and put it under your trap so it doesnt freeze to the ground. Then sift the snow over top of the trap to cover the paper.
