A dirt hole or urine post are the most common. I use victor 1 3/4, the are big enough to hold a yote but not so big that a coon will chew his foot off. My stakes are 2 feet long, some people double stake depending on soil and others use drags.

Depends on your soil, in sandy soil I would say not good but if you have lots of rocks like we do they will hold just fine. Good luck!

That all depends on your soil, I have had no problems holding cats. As for the toughest to catch that is a tough one. Bobcats are very cautious were they step and have very quick reflexes so you better have your traps night latched.

I find cats are pretty easy to guide and hold..IMO coyoted are the hardest to hold..they will jump and give your stakes a run for your money..Id shy away from dukes and maybe go for bridgers..Ive had many a duke that worked with some tuning but bridgers are pretty good right out of the box..I use mostly number 2s and 3s and i ALWAYS double stake..SOmtimes i use drags if the ground is too hard to drive stakes..Just make sure you got some thick area for the drags to catch up in..My fav bait is beaver and bobcat. If u want any more info just PM me.Happy trapping!

I'll probably just tune up the duke traps, and drive two 24'' stakes down.Is it better to drive both of them straight down or at an angle?
