Default Do you hunt now or wait a few weeks ?

Coyote should be getting pups now or pretty soon. My question is; do you hunt or wait until the pups are old enough to be on their own? Some folks don't want to leave the pups to starve without their parents. I am currently holding off.

Around my parts, we give them no quarter, we kill them because they are so over-populated, pups die in the den, might sound harsh, but so be it.

I don't hunt them from mid. March until about Sept., UNLESS a rancher that I normally hunt on calls and is having problems with them getting calves. Gotta keep the ranchers happy to keep the gate open from one season to the next.

After pups are born, and getting out a bit, they can giveaway their location as the will make noise when an adult won't. That can make for easy pickins. When a female is nursing she can come to the call very well, I have taken a few that were in trouble spots. Pups will come in after her with no idea what is up. As howler said, you need to keep the farmer on your side.
