Default 7MM Magnum???

Im 14 years old. My friend who is 15 just bought a 7MM Magnum to hunt coyotes here in southern Ohio. Do you thing that a 7MM is too much gun for a coyote?
He also has a .30-06 and a .30-30What about those? too much gun?

Whatever I have in hand at the time is what they get shot with. I have on several occasions been stalking elk and ran across coyote and dispatched them with a 308. Coyote eat my livestock. I would rather mess up a hunt by doing so then let them pass to get hit in the wallet by them later. When I go out predator hunting I use a 17 rem or .223. Any other time it may be a 22lr up to a 308. Just depends what I'm after that day.Or if one ventures into a field when I'm out and about. Personally a 7mm mag is too strong for me. The receiving end not the giving end.
Any of the 3 listed will do fine. Just be careful of ricochets. All of the 3 will go through many coyotes stacked together and keep on going. By the way I am not advocating a 22lr for coyote. If that's what I have at the time I do take a head shot, but not the best choice for coyote, actually may be one of the worst.
Blessings

Yes you can hunt coyotes with the 7mm mag. But there is more suitable cartridges out there with less recoil. I live in the West where the wind and long shots. Another one to look at is the 243win. Cost of ammo would be much cheaper and recoil would be less then the 7mm mag. Follow up shots and double coyotes would be much easier to take.

hey guys get a membership on coyote gods.com or hunt masters.com and ask if coyotes kill your livestock...see what they have to say. And little buddy i hutn for fur so i skin my predators. You shoot them with a 7mag and theyl already be skinned if ya get what im sayin. lol the 30 cals. are way to much gun in my opinion and the 22-250 is to big for my liking and the 22 rimfires are def not an option. This is just cuz i hunt for fur tho so. I like to use the 22 cal. centerfires like the 223, 218, 221, 220, and the 20 cal. 204 and 17 cal. 17 rem is my few favorites.

what are you trying to save the hide or something of coarse a 7mm mag will do about the best job on a coyote.if you think that getting a coyote hide tanned or even getting it mounted, it is kind ofsilly cuz thats not something you should be happy about.7mm mag is the pro way to go but really expensive so might want to get rich if wanting to buy one.
