Default Good jackrabbit Gun

Hey Y'all, I am buying a large tract of land in northern California, what kind of gun would be good for jackrabbit hunting and possibly coyote/fox. Shots on coyote will be less than 100 yards. I was thinking .22 magnum or regular old .22, advice please.

Since you limit yourself to 100 yards, the .22 mag or .22 hornet will work. My own personal yote rifle is an AR .223. A LONG time ago back when I was going to gunsmithing school, I used a rebarreled very accurate mini-14 on running jackrabbits.

I think a .22 maxi-mag would be ideal for jackrabbit and coyotes, its cheap and very effective on mid-sized small game

Check your local game laws to see what they require for coyote as a minimum caliber and what is allowed for jackrabbits. Might you also do some deer hunting (or mountian lion if they bring it back)? If so, take a look at 7mm-08, 308 and 25-06 (I am not a fan of the 243 for deer or mountain lion).
