What are you trying to trap, and what kind of traps are you currently using?

For coons, i like #11 double longsprings for water sets and 1.5 coil springs for land sets. I might go with a 1.75 on land if I thought that there was a good chance that a coyote might end up in the trap as well.

I haven't had much luck with live traps, but that is probably just me.

How are you making your foothold sets?I prefer them over livetraps, livetraps work ok around here really early in the year {catching nuisance coons and moving them}but dont seem to work as well by the time season rolls around.

Since you got a beaver Ill assume your trapping near water, do you see a lot of coon tracks around the edge of the water?I trapped a tree line with a creek running through it earlier this year, it was a great looking spot, water, food, lotta big den trees etc...

For 3 weeks I never caught anything in there, it was like everything just dissapeared.I was working 12 hour days and running traps before and after work and hadnt bothered to really check the area out good.Turns out it had a lot of coon in it but I was on the wrong end of the treeline, a tile had started running in the other end of it and for some reason they were using it almost exclusively for water, there were muddy trails beaten through the grass from all directions going to this tile, by the time I found it the weather had turned and they werent moving much, you can bet Ill check it out next year though.

Guesse what Im saying is find where theyre going, if your setting traps in spots theyre not running or not in at all youre not gonna catch much no matter which trap you choose.
