Default Am I an addict??

I have gone yote hunting a few times, and never really gave it much thought, now for the past two weeks thats all I think about, It is Bow season now in New York, but even when I am in my stand I am thinking about yotes. I look up everything I can about them on the web. I even went as far as to bring some calls in the woods with me while deer hunting. I have alot of yotes around here, you can hear them everynite yelping and howling, out back. Is this normal? Have I become a yote hunting addict? Is there a yotes AA or something?

There is a difference between an obsession and an addiction. If your obsession causes you to eat, drink, sleep, hunt, etc... coyotes to where it causes problems in work, relationships, finances, etc... then yeah, you've probably got an addiction...lol

Welcome to the fun,I have killed several coyotes from deer stands. When they come in to your stand they aren't looking for you in a tree,I have had them look at me and never see anything out of the normal until they get shot.I even got a second shot on one last year with my recurve bow no way that would happen on the ground,I shot right over his back at 18yards and he jumped and spun around I started lip squeaking and he stopped and looked at me while I was getting another arrow out of my quiver and nocking it he stood there and barked and growled at me something that would never have happened on the ground and my second shot struck him in the ribs and it was over. You are at a great advantage being off the ground your scent is not as likely to be picked up or they aren't as likely to see you,you are more likely to be able to get your bow drawn or gun on them without detection.GOOD LUCK AND GOOD HUNTING

I had it explained to me like this...

Addicts have a problem, that they want to stop... I dont want to stop...

I guess I really don't have a problem, I can't belive I found something as thrilling as bow hunting whitetail, I have a couple calls, I have the Primos Raspy Coaxer, and The Primos Regulator 10 For distress calls, is there others I should get to even the odds? Do howlers work? From what I have read coyotes seem to be very teritorial, Could you bring some in with coyote yelps and barks? I appreciate the help and info. Thanks.

Coyotes will definately respond to coyote vocalizations by approaching. Many folks save their calling efforts for mating season, Jan-Feb, but I use them in the fall with good success. Use a simple lone howl and wait at least 20 minutes for a response. They do not always answer back (like a silent gobbler) so keep a keen eye!

Good luck
