I would suggest registering on Trapperman.com. You will learn more there than anywhere. As far as trap sizes, I use #2 offset coilsprings for coyote/bobcat. I like 1.65 bridgers or 1 3/4 coilsprings for fox/bobcat. Learn the dirthole set, there are different variations of it. I really like the step down dirthole, search it on trapperman.com if you have time, there are very good, detailed pictures of it.Then you will want to learn the flat set, scent post, etc. If your going after coyote, you'd better be strict on scent control. I have found that most lure gives me similar results. Location is the #1 factor determining how well I do. If you place the trap in the right location, and practice good scent control of your traps, equipment, and the site, then brand of lure will be your least determining factor. That being said, I usually buy my lure from Mr. Lenonon trapperman, priced very good and I've caught a lot of fur off of them.

Good luck to you.

Raise field mice and use them for baits. When they get about a month old kill them and freeze them. They have a scent the yotes love. I have about 20lbs of them in the freezer for next month Pa. trapping season. I have caught bobcats off them also but had to release cause no permit to keep one. This month is a good time to be hunting them(yotes) with a squeeker. The young new borns from march or april are very stupid and will come looking right away for that meal. Just squeak or squeal for no more than a minute and waite about 8 to 10 minutes before useing the call again. They will come in
uneducated and quite easy to whack. 8 allready this month we have taken just from the above method. The older ones need combo to get them in.

Well, I haven't trapped much, but I've found that bobcats are more visual than coyotes. For a bobcat set, I usually set a feather on a string or a dove decoy close by to give them something they can see. For yotes, they like anything that smells like a rodent this timeof year. They are more motivated by their nose.
