Default shopping for new rifle

looking to buy a new rifle to add to the collection most likely a .223. i want a short and light rifle for callin in yotes. the three im looking at are the remington model seven predator, the remington model 799, and the savage predator hunter. buddy has the savage. it has a pretty good feel to it. i have yet to shoulder the other two. these rifles are 43inches and shorter. the heaviest is the savage at 7.25 pounds. anybody have any experiance with these rifles. thanks for the help

well, i dont have a Savage Predator hunter, but i do have a Savage Model 10 in 243 and they are quality built rifles at a reasonable price. the my Savage has the Accutrigger just like the Predator hunter and it is smooth as glass. the accutrigger really helps when your trying to pull off fast and accurate shots. I dont really know much about the Remington rifles. they way i see it is you can pay the extra money for the Remington name on your rifle or you could spend less on a equal quality Savage, my choice would be the Savage. Plus the Savage comes with that awesome camo job on it

Here is a review of the Savage Predator Hunter that i hope helps you out some

have you checked out ruger's M77 compact in 223,I bought one a couple of years back and I love it,I replaced the trigger with an adjustable one,but other than that it's a perfect, lightweight and accurate walk around rifle for up to 300yard dogs, with a leupold 4x12x40 scope and shells it weighs about 7 and a half pounds and it's several inches shorter than most other guns due to the 16 1/2 inch barrel check it out you may like it.

I just got a flyer in the mail from Cabela's in Wheeling, WV. They have the Model 7 Predator on sale for $599. Is that a good price?? It sounds good to me. Tom.
