Default night hunting

As far as hunting coyotes at nightwith a spot light goes, is it best to set up like normal and call like normal and just every few minutes or so flash the light out there ( across a feild)Also is it best to have a red light or does it not matter?

Use a red lens and leave it on.Critters can't see it.
