Default put out first trap

I bought one of the Havaheart (sp?) traps earlier today and about 5 min ago and I loaded it down with corn out near a game trail that i believe is coon. Im friggin excited about this!!!! I guess im just excited to see if I catch something and what it will be. I feel like a little schoolboy with a new toy, haha. I wonder how long it will take to catch something? I doubt anything will happen before sunset, but I got another 4 hours to find out. Saw a young red fox pup, if thats what you call them, walking around the property the other day, but I doubt he eats corn, and I doubt he is dumb enough to go into the box trap, but i can hope right . Wish me luck guys!

If you are after coon or fox, you might try some catfood or tuna. Might also check into local laws about live trapping coons at this time of the year.

Caught my first coon last night using corn.Fur looks pretty thick but being my first, i have nothing to compare it to. I wantmy youngin'to learn to enjoy wildlife and understand that they live, eat, and breathe like everything else before he see's me kill one, that way he understands what he isreally doing when he takes the life of an animal in the future. So, lucky for this one, he will be let free tonight so my boy can learn a lesson, but the next 10,20, whatever, are dead as dirt

Are you looking to trap them for their fur to sell. I doubt that the fur is prime.

My cousin caught and killed about a dozen in his garden using one live trap to keep them off his sweet corn. Too bad that you cant hold off until the fall, the fur prices are up pretty good.
