Default Calling Predators

I just this year got into predator hunting I went to BPS and got an electronic call (cottontail) and a riggor rabbit. Not knowing much about what I am doing I was wondering if I should have the call running the whole time or just a few minutes and then stop. I also wanted to know if you guys have more luck in the morning or night.

I have shot coyotes before while deer hunting and actuallt shot a fox one time; I calles him up while I was turkey hunting. As far as going out and looking for predatore in particular any advice would be great.

Default RE: Calling Predators

Well,I would tell you that as a rule of thumb you want to first call soft, or low volume10 or 15 seconds. Wait about a couple minutes, and do it again. Then if you see nothing, increase the volume, and call a little longer, leaving 3 to 5 min. inbettween calling. Try and sit at least 30 or 40 min. if your calling a big area, or if it"s a little windy. Don"t be affraid to change calls in a set, some guys say no, but I have seen it make all the differnce in the world. Fox will come to constant calling as will young or stupid coyotes, but constant calling will alert a wise coyote. both morning and evening are good times, even the middle of the day you can call dogs up. If you kill one, keep calling, alot of times a shot won"t alert a dog , belive it or not
