Default Daisy airguns for squirrels

Hey guys,

I have a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun and I was wondering if it could kill a squirrel. It won' t shoot pellets. How far will you need to be in order to kill it? Will I have to shoot it more than once or just one time in the head? Any information will very helpful. Thanks.

Not likely, better get a top line adult air(something that shoots pellets at or over 1000fps) gun or use a .22

Those Red Ryder guns were not made to hunt with. I' ve seen people kill a squirrel with a pellet gun that shot around 700 feet per second.

The BB gun will not do the job. It will either bounce off or wound. Get an air rifle that shoots either .177 or .22 pellets. I bought a Chinese rifle for $19.95 at a tool sale that shoots hard enough but not accurate. My buddy has the same gun and it is accurate enough. Go figure. I am considering a Gamo Shadow that is on sale at Dick' s Sporting Goods for $139. Probably get it this week.

The red rider is not powerful enough for killing squirrels but last winter me and my daughter killed 5 squirrels in the woods around our house with a Daisy 760 pump. I know it would be nice to own one of the adult air rifles, but I know alot of the new young hunters wont be spending that kind of money anytime soon. Take a look at the pump-up daisy models, keeping the fps in mind. These guns will do what you ask but getting close, say, 30 yds or less is a MUST. They' ll drop with a head shot.

Happy huntin'
